The History of the Grooves Record Stores
Grooves was Point Place, Wisconsin's town record store. It opened it the late 1970s as part of the invasion of chain stores into Point Place's formerly locally owned business scene. It was first owned by William "WB" Barnett (Hyde's biological father) and managed by Hyde and his half sister Angie. William Barnett offered Hyde a desk job at the Grooves corporate office.
"You come work for me and we’ll kick butt at the father/son picnic. I’ll
even start a father/son picnic just so we can kick butt."
Hyde agrees until he realizes that he isn't cut out for work in an office. William Barnett then gives Hyde the job of managing the new Grooves Record Store with Angie's help. Angie becomes upset with Hyde because of the fact that she wasn't able to manage the store on her own. She later forgives Hyde when she realizes that she forgot to order the bins for the records, and Hyde solves the problem by finding some milk crates. When WB decides to sell all the Grooves chains (Season 8), Hyde becomes upset until William Barnett reveals that he wanted to give Hyde the final remaining store. Hyde then owns and runs the store.
